Eddy Discovery Center / Waterloo State Recreation Area

Waterloo State Recreation Area is a former National Park Service property and is the 3rd largest park in Michigan comprising over 20,000 acres characterized by moraines, kettle lakes, swamps and bogs left by retreating glaciers after the last ice age. 

The Eddy Discovery Center introduces visitors to the world of geology and the diverse natural habitats that are found within Waterloo. Miles of trails offer hikers of all ages and abilities the chance to explore the diverse geology and habitats from forest wetlands to mature oak-hickory forests. Waterloo is also a great place to view Sandhill Cranes in a self-guided tour of the Haehnle Sanctuary.
